FINAL PHASE: MOVE TO ONE ACCOUNT
For those of you with double InternetIDs and e-mail accounts (one for your staff status and one for your student status), the final phase of combining InternetIDs will begin soon. People with double InternetIDs will be notified via e-mail about how to combine them. This final phase of notifications and combining will take place over the next 6 weeks. More information will soon be available on-line on the OIT Help page: http://www.umn.edu/adcs/help/

CRITICAL SERVER IDENTIFICATION
OIT Security would like to thank all who have been coordinating the critical server identification for their departments! If you still need to identify critical servers, here's the link: http://www.umn.edu/oit/security/criticalserv.shtml

FILEMAKER DATABASE SECURITY NOTICE
A security flaw was recently discovered within all versions of FileMaker. A shared, multi-user FileMaker Pro database will send the entire password list to any computer that attempts to access the database; there is reason to believe that it may be relatively easy for a knowledgeable hacker to decipher the password list. More details and solutions from OIT security at: http://www.umn.edu/oit/security/filemakernotice.shtml

911 SERVICE AT THE U
911 services at the University TC campus will be upgraded in June to meet national compliance standards. Pay phones and off campus services (Centrex lines with the 627 telephone numbers) will now be included in the E911 information.

UPDATE: APPLETALK AND IPX ABATEMENT
AppleTalk and IPX abatements progress throughout campus. The project is looking for an early completion by August 2003 in preparation for the New Generation Network to begin in September. 180 interfaces have now been removed. 457 IPX and 387 Appletalk interfaces remain active. More details available at: http://www.umn.edu/oit/appleipx/

WIRELESS PHONES AND CORDLESS SETS
Wireless telephones and Cordless sets are under examination for future introduction to the TC campus. Voice Over IP telephone service is being tested, but the high cost of $500+ per set makes it a distance reality at this time. Cordless sets will be available for single line sets soon. Look for information about them in an upcoming edition of OIT's Information Technology Newsletter.

MAY 15 DEADLINE: ENHANCED VOICE MAIL SERVICE
Enhanced Voice Mail service testing has concluded. Free change orders will be accepted through May 15 only. More at: http://www.umn.edu/nts/
